Water for My Soul

poem

Good Morning my family

Do you think that this rain will bring flowers?

The lovely poem that my kindergartener brought home yesterday.  More of a survey, really.  She left a space for each family member to respond – except the three year-old “because she can’t write yet.”

God, I hope it brings flowers.  And I hope you stay as lovely and sweet as you are right now.  With your sense of wonder and hope and excitement.

Viva Julia! Or Marcal, I prefer Marcal because it’s made from recycled paper 😉

A certain eight year-old I know does not. She says she has to use too much of it!

  3. Lovely poem, mama! I am a longtime believer that children are far smarter than we are. Save this, as I am sure you will. Take a photo of any flowers you spot in the yard. And when life throws a curveball you can remind her of the day she asked if the rain brought flowers and you can tell her that indeed it always does. 🙂

Very good point! This is a teachable moment that can last and last!

She is so anxious to get out in the garden, plant seeds and flowers . . . she gets angry when I stay her because of the danger of frost. I hope she keeps her sense of urgency to make the world a more beautiful place despite the risks.

      Thank you for your perspective.

      • She sounds like a special little lady. 🙂 Our daughter was always anxious for our garden to grow but would never allow pesticides because she wanted the ladybugs to eat the plants. 🙂
